Bihari Lal Inter College in Dankaur Block is the largest govt. aided higher secondary school
in the entire Dankaur Block with student base of more than 4000. Even with such large student base,
this school didn't have a computer lab and few computers that it had were non-functional,
with no IT Lab and no computer teacher. Further the school does not get electricity during the day time.
The school has a DG set and two small inverters but that caters to only school's emergency and office load requirement.
Class rooms hardly get any electricity for lighting or fan during day time
Now, the school has a 15 KW solar rooftop plant with 2 nos of 7.5 KVA Solar UPS and two very large battery bank. Thanks to Asian Paint's generous support under their CSR Program. With that Asian paints has supported in coming up with a great looking hitec IT Lab with ACs. The entire solar project was executed by Naturetech and the computer lab was executed by Naturetech's NGO partner Bihang Welfare Association.
With this the computer lab is flush with student activities all the day and now the centre of all discussion in the school. Now the surplus solar power is being diverted to other classrooms of the school during school hours.
School management has committed to pay for annual AMC charges for the solar installation out of the small incremental
tution fees to be charged from students from next year. Asian Paints has already sponsored the salary of a computer lab
teacher for the first year and beyond which the lab teacher would be on the payroll of the school.
For the first year Asian Paints is paying for the insurance premium charges for the solar panels,
beyond which the school management would bear the cost. A wire fence is also getting constructed
around the panels for additional protection. In order to overcome bad weather conditions,
we have here also provided mains input supply to the inverter, for charging of batteries when mains
supply is available in night hours.
